Refund and Cancellation Policy
Effective date: 22 October 2026
This policy applies to electrical installation and maintenance services supplied on-site in Hounslow by:
Surinder Singh Chopra trading as Chopra Circuits (trading as Chopra Circuits) 11 Swallowfield house, 450/448 bath road, Hounslow, TW4 7RR Email: admin@chopracircuits.co.uk
It applies to consumers and, where relevant, businesses. Consumer rights described below are provided under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
Your 14-day cancellation right
If you are a consumer, you normally have the right to cancel a contract for services within 14 days without giving a reason. The 14-day period begins on the day after the contract is made.
To cancel, email admin@chopracircuits.co.uk or write to the postal address above. Please provide your name, address, details of the service and a clear statement that you wish to cancel. You may also contact us by any other clear written method that identifies you and your cancellation request.
If you cancel within the statutory period, we will acknowledge your cancellation and explain any amount payable for work already carried out or any applicable exception.
Starting work during the 14-day period
You may ask us to begin work during the 14-day cancellation period. If you do so, you may still cancel, but you must pay a proportionate amount for the service supplied up to the time you tell us that you are cancelling.
The amount will reflect the work properly carried out in proportion to the full service agreed. If the service has been fully performed after you expressly asked us to begin during the cancellation period and acknowledged that you would lose your cancellation right once the service was fully performed, the statutory cancellation right may no longer apply.
Refunds and refund timing
Where a refund is due, we will make it without undue delay and normally within 14 days of:
- The day we receive your cancellation notice, where no work has been supplied or where the law requires an earlier refund;
- The day we receive evidence that goods supplied as part of the service have been returned, where this is relevant; or
- The day on which we agree that a refund is due.
We will normally refund the original payment method. We will not charge a refund fee. If a lawful proportionate charge is due for work already started, or if equipment has been ordered to your specification, we may deduct the relevant amount before making the refund.
Deposits
A deposit is an advance payment towards the agreed work, materials or equipment. Cancelling does not automatically mean that a deposit is forfeited.
Where you cancel and a refund is due, we will refund the deposit within 14 days, subject to any lawful and proportionate deduction for:
- Work already carried out at your request;
- Equipment or materials ordered specifically to your requirements and which cannot reasonably be reused or resold; or
- Other charges that you clearly agreed to and which are permitted by law.
We will explain any deduction. A deposit will not limit your statutory rights.
Equipment ordered to your specification
Some equipment may be ordered specifically for your installation or to your stated requirements. Where equipment has already been ordered to your specification, cancellation may not be possible for that equipment if the law permits us to exclude the statutory cancellation right.
We will tell you about any relevant charge or restriction before ordering equipment where reasonably practicable. This does not affect your rights if the equipment or installation is faulty, not as described or otherwise does not meet the requirements of the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Cancellations after work has started
If you ask us to start work before the end of the 14-day cancellation period and then cancel, we may charge a proportionate amount for the work completed up to cancellation.
If work has started after the cancellation period, or if the statutory cancellation period does not apply, the cancellation terms agreed for the service will apply. We will not charge for work that has not been carried out unless a lawful charge for ordered equipment or another agreed cost applies.
Faulty workmanship and statutory remedies
Services must be carried out with reasonable care and skill, in accordance with the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
If you believe our workmanship is faulty, please contact us promptly with details of the problem. We will normally have the opportunity to inspect and repair the work first, without additional charge where the fault is our responsibility.
If repair is impossible, is not completed within a reasonable time, or causes you significant inconvenience, you may be entitled to a price reduction or a refund. The amount of any refund may take account of the use you have already received from the service, where the law permits this.
These rights do not affect any other rights you have under UK law.
